Extension in Bitterne
On this project we extended the rear of the property, allowing extra space for a large open plan kitchen diner and the addition of a downstairs wetroom and utility room. The existing kitchen had “done it’s time” and the original structure at the rear of the building was no longer sound, so it seemed a perfect time for the project.
The kitchen was replaced in a traditional style which matched perfectly with the period home, and all new appliances including a range cooker were installed to indulge the client’s passion for baking. The client provided the tiles for the splashback, which added even more character to this lovely warm kitchen, and the flooring was carefully selected to blend with the wood effect worktops while providing a rugged surface for this high traffic area. Under-cabinet lighting and spotlighting provide ample working light and the feature lights over the island really bring the kitchen to life.
The wetroom – a very welcome addition to a busy household – was carefully designed to use the available space as effectively as possible, the sanitary ware being selected to provide ease of use while not feeling cramped.
Velux skylights and large bi-fold doors make the dining area a bright space for the family to relax, and open up into the garden to further add to the usability of the home. From the kitchen you can enjoy the view right through into the garden.
Once the internal works were completed the patio area was built, bringing the garden level up to match the dining area and providing steps down onto the lawn. A beautiful planting scheme by the customer really finishes off this project.
